The Town of Granite Falls is a wonderful place to live and work. We are centrally located in the southern portion of Caldwell County in the heart of the fast growing Unifour area (Caldwell, Catawba, Alexander and Burke Counties). The Town of Granite Falls, with a population of over 4,600, and Caldwell County, with a population of over 83,000, are home to a well-trained, highly skilled work force and a variety of affordable housing options.

Businesses and industries considering locating or expanding in the Town of Granite Falls will find the existing infrastructure offers the full range of services. Among the current services available inside the Town Limits are water, wastewater and electric all provided by the Town. In addition to Town provided utilities, natural gas, telephone, cable television and high-speed internet access are also available in most locations. The Town of Granite Falls is served by several major highways. US Highway 321 and US Highway 321A are primary corridors for Granite Falls and the entire region. Additionally, the Town is located only minutes from Interstate 40 and US Highway 70. Air transportation needs can be accommodated at the Hickory Regional Airport, which is a 7 mile drive, and the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which is a 50 mile drive.

On Monday, September 9th, the Granite Falls Fire Department will be conducting a live burn training exercise at a house located at 19 Pine Street.
Traffic closures will be in effect on Pine Street from just past Cascade Lane to Falls Avenue on the side where the Baird House Transportation Museum is located, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. No other traffic interruptions are expected.
The structure will be burned to its foundation, but smoldering embers will be visible inside the foundation after the training exercise is completed.
Residents in this area that have breathing difficulties should keep their windows closed and their HVAC systems off during this time frame. Town residents should not be alarmed to see a column of smoke from this area during this time.
