The Town of Granite Falls
Receives RP3 Designation

Granite Falls is located in southern Caldwell County North Carolina, just north of Hickory, on U. S. Highway 321. Its history dates back before the Revolutionary War. Its origins can be traced to land grants dating back to 1754. Granite Falls was incorporated on May 1, 1899 and was named after the Falls on Gunpowder Creek, where a solid formation of granite spans the creek. Read more about the Town's history. »

Mayor's Welcome

On behalf of the Town Council and citizens of Granite Falls, I thank you for visiting our website. I am proud to serve as Mayor of my hometown, and I hope our website will show you a small portion of the people, places and services that make Granite Falls a wonderful place to live.

Located at the foot of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and on two lakes of the Catawba River chain, our town offers home sites with views and amenities that are unique even in our beautiful state. Our town is too beautiful and friendly to appreciate fully through a website visit. So when you "log off", pack a bag and come visit us. We will take you to see the "Falls at Gunpowder Creek" from which our town derives its name, peaceful Lake Rhodhiss and Lake Hickory and many other historic and natural sites.

Again, I am happy you visited our website and I hope to see you soon.

Barry Hayes
Mayor
