Lighting of the Christmas Tree
Come join the singing, fun and fellowship on Monday, November 24 from 6:30 until 7:45 in the town square. Last year was a huge success and this year should be even better. There will again be a community choir, with participation from the local schools. Businesses and churches provide free refreshments. The highlight of the evening will be the lighting of the Christmas tree at 7:30 pm.
Christmas Parade On Saturday, December 6
"Jingle Around the Block," is the theme for the 2008 Christmas parade. The Rotary Club of Granite Falls will sponsor the annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 6 at 12:00 noon. The parade line will begin at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Granite Falls. The registration fee is $10.00. After November 22nd the cost for registration will be $20.00 per entry.
Registration will be held November 8th and 15th at the Granite Falls Recreation Center from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Applications are available at Linda’s Hair Salon, First Citizens Bank, and RBC Bank. All entries must be decorated in a Christmas theme. Anyone who drives in the parade must be at least sixteen years old with a valid driver’s license. The registration cost for anyone riding a horse has been reduced to $5.00 per horse or wagon and $10.00 per equestrian group.

Thanksgiving, Christmas And New Year’s Holiday Hours
The holiday schedule for the town and for trash/recycling are as follows:
The Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum
- Thanksgiving Day Holidays: The Town Offices and Public Works will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Recreation Center will be closed Thursday through Sunday to refinish the gym floor. Garbage/recycling will be collected on schedule.
- Christmas Holidays: The Town Office, Public Works and the Recreation Center will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, December 24, 25 and 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Garbage Disposal Service will not collect garbage/recycling on Christmas Day. December 25 garbage/recycling will be collected on Friday and Friday’s regular collection will be collected on Saturday.
- New Year’s Day: The Town Office, Public Works and the Recreation Center will be closed Thursday, January 1, in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Garbage Disposal Service will collect garbage/recycling on a regular schedule.
will be closed the weekends of November 29 and December 27. The Police and Fire Departments, as well as the Water Plant and Sewer Plants, will be on duty as scheduled during these holidays.
